| Inverlochy forms part of the Fort William catchment area
and was purpose built in the 1920s to house incoming workers for
the newly built British Aluminium Company, now known as Alcan
Power & Smelter.
Inverlochy was one of the first places in the UK with electricity
as a result of the large hydro generating station which is a integral
part of the Alcan plant.
The village has its own pleasant shopping square, a primary school
and lots of very well maintained, privately owned housing. You
can walk or cycle to Inverlochy from Fort William by following
the road passed the Nevis Centre. It's also a pleasant walk to
Inverlochy
Castle Ruin which is a mile or so towards the Lochy
Bridge.
